Lucien “Lou” Galarneau

For more than 50 years, Lou Galarneau has dedicated his life to the art and craft of home building. His career began as a framing contractor, where his technical skill, leadership, and problem-solving abilities quickly set him apart. Before long, Lou was leading crews and managing some of the most complex framing projects in the region.

In 1978, Lou joined his father-in-law at Van Mar Builders—one of Saratoga Springs’ most respected home builders at the time. When the late 1970s housing downturn hit, bringing mortgage rates above 18%, Van Mar Builders was forced to close its doors. Refusing to let adversity define his path, Lou took ownership of the company’s assets and employees and, in 1980, founded Galarneau Builders.

Over the past 45 years, Galarneau Builders has become a trusted name in Saratoga Springs and the surrounding area, completing hundreds of custom homes, additions, renovations, and commercial projects. The company’s work can be seen throughout many of the region’s most established neighborhoods, including Lakewood Estates, The Meadows, Birch Run, Deer Run, Brookfields in Wilton, and Beacon Hill Estates.

Lou’s experience spans every scale—from small renovations to multi-million-dollar custom homes and historic restorations. He is widely admired for his deep knowledge of construction, his eye for architectural detail, and his unwavering commitment to quality craftsmanship. Lou’s passion for building continues to shape the legacy and reputation of Galarneau Builders today.
